Every litre saved is energy avoided. We measure both, or we don't claim it.

In the UAE and across the Gulf, water is never just water: desalination and groundwater pumping are energy-intensive, carbon-intensive processes. That's why our impact page reads more like a methodology than a marketing claim.

Water-energy nexus

A litre of irrigation water carries an energy cost before it ever reaches a plant.

Desalinated water requires substantial energy to produce, and the UAE draws most of its municipal supply that way; farm groundwater is pumped from increasing depths as aquifers deplete and salinity climbs. Both draw on carbon-intensive grids. That means a litre of water saved through better irrigation is, indirectly, an emissions reduction. The two figures move together, not separately, which is why the UAE's National Water Security Strategy 2036 treats demand reduction as an energy measure as much as a water one.

Why this matters for our claims: because water and energy are linked, a savings number is only meaningful when it states which water source it applies to, since desalinated, treated-effluent and mains water carry different energy intensities per litre.
Methodology first

How the Savings Ledger states a number.

The Savings Ledger (see AI Intelligence) is built so every figure it ever shows carries these fields, already running on the bench pod's own metered data. Here is the structure, ready to fill in as each pilot site adds its baseline.

Measurement periodThe exact start and end dates the figure covers: never "since installation" left vague.
BaselineThe pre-install metered water use the figure is compared against, taken from that specific site.
FormulaThe calculation used to go from raw litres to a savings percentage or volume.
SourceWhich meter, sensor or manual reading the underlying numbers come from.
Quality labelMeasured, estimated, or modelled: stated plainly, not implied.
The one number we do cite

44% water reduction: a published benchmark, not our own claim.

The only savings figure on this site is 44% water reduction, the published benchmark for this device class from MIT GEAR Lab's AI-driven solar drip controller research. It is cited as a benchmark for what closed-loop, AI-assisted drip irrigation has achieved elsewhere, not as a result IrrigAims has measured. Our own pilots will publish our own measured figure once baselines and results exist.

Alignment

Where this maps to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

SDG 6

Clean water and sanitation: reducing waste in irrigation, the largest single draw on regional freshwater.

SDG 2

Zero hunger: need-based fertigation supports more resilient agriculture in water-stressed conditions.

SDG 13

Climate action: litres saved in a desalination- and pumping-dependent region translate to avoided emissions.

No fabricated impact figures. Ever.

Every number we publish about our own performance will carry a measurement period, a baseline, a formula and a source, published only once it's measured.
